Pacific Campus Parking Structure

As the school continues to develop as a metropolitan university, this parking facility will be an integral component in the campus’ infrastructure. Serving both students in the adjacent residence halls and the campus population at large, the new 1,400+ car parking facility will provide a safe and functional facility that is easy to navigate and will enhance the campus visually with a simple, bold expression. The design of the new parking facility will reinforce its position on campus. In order to achieve a simple, functional, and beautiful solution, several complex elements will be woven together addressing key issues which include safety and security, functionality, durability. Jury Notes: The project achieves elegance and scale through an effective straight-forward strategy for a utilitarian building type. The simple gesture of rotating several tapered precast concrete “reeds” creates a lively natural pattern that softens the façade of the parking garage taking ordinary to extraordinary.
